Dr. Parhi is one of the brilliant students of Orissa. He stood first two times in entire Orissa, Once in graduation course and the other in post graduation course. He has joined Regional Engineering College, Rourkela in the year 1966. He has done his Ph.D in the Year 1973 and went to Japan on a post doctoral fellowship. He is the fellow of Japan Society for Promotion of Science. He went to Baghdad University of Govt. of Iraq in the year 1981. He was promoted to the post of Professor in Computer Science Engineering and Application in REC, Rourkela in the year 1987. He was the Coordinator of MCA Course. This MCA course was started in India for the first time. He was also HOD in Computer Science Engineering and Application for 4 years. Being a Professor in REC, Rourkela, he was the Coordinator of project IMPACT, a project which was sponsored by Swiss Development Corporation, World Bank and Department of Electronics, Govt. of India. Under the World Bank project he established the best Computer laboratory in REC, Rourkela in the year 1993. He with the help of his colleagues and support of Principal has been able to get an approval for Master Course in Computer Science and Engineering, in the year 1996 from ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, AICTE, Govt. of India. He got a good number of MODROB and TAPTCE projects from AICTE. He was retired from REC, Rourkela in February 2000.

He was the Vice Principal of Orissa Engineering College, Bhubaneswar. He was also the Principal of Bhadrak Institute of Engineering and Technology, Barpada and now he is working as Principal cum secretary at Seemanta Engineering College, Mayurbhanj situated at Jharpokharia since Feb'2004.
